Creative Writing

Learning Plus offers regular opportunities for creative writing…

Monthly Creative Writing Group

Do you have stories to share? Memoirs to write? Poetry to develop? Aspirations to author?

Our monthly Creative Writing group is here for you to give and get ideas, feedback and tools for developing your writing. Everybody in the group is on their own writing journey and enjoys the chance to discuss their own and others work as well as finding it good motivation to write more.

The group meets on the second Thursday of the month in the upstairs room at Ambleside Library

Creative Writing Courses

From time to time we have creative writing courses led by a tutor – these are friendly and informal and give you a great opportunity to focus on your creative writing, developing your methods and style.

The courses are equally useful for absolute beginners and for those who are more experienced writers or poets.

Our current course is on hold due to Coronavirus but will resume on Thursday afternoons in Ambleside Library from 2-4pm once social distancing has been relaxed.

Comments from students on previous courses:

“The course is successful in giving confidence, sparking new ideas and helping to develop them. The social aspects are also good as we can support and help each other and get good ideas from each other “

“It’s been so nice to be with like-minded budding authors like myself that I can’t think of anything to improve it. 10 out of 10”

In the past we have run day courses on Saturdays, weekly Saturday courses and evening courses as well as the Thursday afternoon slot. Please register your interest in Creative Writing courses if you would like to do a different time slot or a future course with details of which days/times would work for you by email or on facebook

All 2 hour sessions are £2 per person including tea/coffee and biscuits.

Publication Opportunities

From time to time there are opportunities for members of the group or course attendees to include their work in a publication eg a book of local stories or in a performance of the written word.
