About Us

Learning Plus: Aims and Objectives

Our aim is to provide people in the Ambleside area with the life skills support they need in order to:

  • develop new skills, confidence and interests;
  • gain employment or promotion at work;
  • take up volunteering opportunities, training or further education;
  • play a full part in our local community.

The objectives of Learning Plus are to:

  • provide small group and individual support in English, Numeracy, Computing,  English as a Second Language and Job Search on Tuesday afternoons and Thursday evenings;
  • bring long term residents together with short stay and long stay workers from other countries for informal discussion and joint activities;
  • encourage members of the group to play a full part in their local community through volunteering and participation in other groups and organisations;
  • provide additional courses and workshops in areas of interest to group members and local people and to assist group members to work towards qualifications where appropriate.

How Learning Plus operates:

Learning Plus is a registered charity and has a small team of trustees who oversee the running of the charity and the work of the employed co-ordinator, ESOL tutor, creative writing tutor and volunteers.
